Hi! I started learning Japanese about 7-8 months ago, but I'm still struggling. I'm know most if not all of the hiragana characters and I'm learning katakana right now. I know most of the basics buy yet when I try to speak Japanese it sounds textbookish and stiff.
Use Renshuu
But in all seriousness if you're still learning kana it would be crazy to have any speaking skills I think you should focus on being able to read stuff first
Learning kana is a big step to learning to spell. When you learn some words and particles, there are some particulars where as far as pronunciation is concerned, they can differ from kana alone. While it is still good to recognize the spelling as well as how they sound, just be aware when that happens. It can trip you up a bit without practice.
One thing that can help with pronunciation is learning words. If you know them, they can help with reading and speech. Beyond that, learning grammar helps your reading comprehension as well as writing to convey ideas. But you would be used to kana by then.
Chat with native speakers, it's gonna help a ton. Even talking to yourself in Japanese could help too. Just stick with consistency.!
But japanese names that start with T letter are even cute!!
Don't fret taking some time for things to click. Just focus on learning how to read for now, since that will help you with more exposure to the language. Language learning takes time and everybody sounds like their textbooks when they start out, because those are the phrases that you learn first haha
