On both web and mobile, I find that when audio plays for vocabulary, it usually cuts in a second or two into the word.
For example, if the word is 卵焼き, it's like the audio starts the file but doesn't actually produce sound until say ごやき.
Have others got this issue too? Seems like its been happening as long as I've been on Renshuu and just now looking to resolve it.
I have heard of this happening for a small number of users - what device are you on, and what browser are you using when you access it via the website?
Thanks for your response, I'm using Google chrome on PC, and for the mobile app that's on an iPhone.
Your response did prompt me to try another browser, and on Firefox the issue isn't happening for me so I'll use that as a work around for now. Will stick around for replies if I can help narrow it down for anyone else too or for bug fixing, though!
That is indeed strange - I've actually heard the opposite for some people (works on Chrome, not on Firefox)!
You might also want to try this: go into the menu > settings, then select the Experimental category. Try turning OFF the CDN support, and see if that changes anything for you.
I tried the changes suggested and tested it out, that fixed it for chrome! ありがとうございます!
Hey,
I hope it's ok that I necro this thread instead of making a new one. I found it with Google, and I have the exact same issue, so I thought I would add some data points. Sorry OP if this sends out an annoying ping!
I'm running Firefox on Win11 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:147.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/147.0) but I have the same issue on iOS (up-to-date), MS Edge and on Linux with Firefox.
I've tried whitelisting renshuu with all my ad- and tracking-blockers, and I activated the "no CDN for audio" switch in Experimentals. I'm in Germany with Vodafone (second-largest ISP), and it doesn't happen when I switch to mobile data (o2), maybe it's a routing issue? Our ISP's are all atrocious..
It doesn’t happen with every flashcard in a quiz, but it does occur with every other card. It’s not a major issue, of course, but it can be quite annoying, especially with new cards. Worth noting that nothing else on the site has any loading issues, it's just the audio.
if ur using bluetooth headphones for mobile, for apps with audio then silence, some bt protocols go aggressively into power save mode within just two seconds. so if u use bluetooth, u can find program that is keepalive for bt connection that will play an inaudible sound constantly to prevent headphones or earbuds from sleeping. idk if that is ur issue but this has been thing for me forever when using wireless to learn ne language so i do that to fix it. if u think thid might b the issue u can try wired headphones and see if that solves it.
If it's happening with one type of data, and not with another, then it's probably routing :(
